Kurg is around 250 kms from Bangalore and 1500m above sea level .Madikeri, the district headquarters of Kurg ( Kodagu Dist ) . Kurg or coorg is also know as the Scotland of India, This is one of the biggest tourism town . Kurg has offered Misty hills, forest, acres and acres of coffee plantation, orange groves, which makes Kurg an unforgettable holiday destination.
Kurg – Coorg is on the Western Ghats. This is one of the most beautiful hill stations you can visit. It lies on Karnataka’s southwestern end, the river Cauvery originates here at Talacauvery and is worshipped by the locals.The economy depends on agriculture, coffee plantations, and tourism.
The Haleri dynasty was the last dynasty to rule the whole of Kodagu. It came into power around mid-16th century . It was the first dynasty in the history of Kodagu, whch spanned 234 years and ruled the entire region.
